The SEK-CAP Emergency Shelter is located at 204 North Pine in Pittsburg and is part of the recently renovated CHOICES Complex.  The CHOICES Emergency Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; 365 days a year.  There are twelve rooms and we have the capacity to serve approximately 48 people.  There are laundry facilities and kitchen accommodations on-site.

The facility is in the downtown area of Pittsburg which allows for easy access to employment, social, educational, and retail services.

Case management services are provided on-site.  Staff work closely with the families to meet goal plans of identified immediate and long-term needs.  SEK-CAP and community partners collaborate to provide the vital resources needed to help the family succeed as they work to achieve their goals to self-sufficiency.

Funding for shelter operations is provided by the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programs through the State of Kansas and by the United Way of Crawford County.

Due to the number of families with children served and limited funding; we are always looking for ways to reduce our operating expenses in order to expand the services we provide.  Monetary gifts are encouraged and donations of items used to keep our shelter clean and safe are appreciated.  Scroll to a list of good-will donations that will meet the needs of our residents.
